Faszination Reisen - Was für mich dahinter steckt...

Wie bereits in meinem ersten Blogpost erwähnt, gehört das Reisen zu einigen meiner größten Leidenschaften. Schon häufiger habe ich mich gefragt, woran es liegen kann, dass diese Leidenschaft so viele Menschen teilen und andere wiederum rein gar nicht von ihr fasziniert zu sein scheinen.

Doch im Grunde ist die Antwort für diejenigen, die vom Reisen fasziniert sind, ganz einfach. Für mich zumindest ist es die Faszination Neues zu entdecken, wobei "Neues" ein ziemlich dehnbarer Begriff ist. Es kann so Vieles bedeuten: Neue Kulturen und Lebensweisen, andere Mentalitäten, fremde faszinierende Landschaften, ... Die Liste ist scheinbar unendlich lang. Es gibt ein Zitat, welches für mich die Antwort nach dem "Warum?" perfekt auf den Punkt bringt:

"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." St. Augustine

Passender könnte man es meiner Meinung nach nicht zusammenfassen. Mit all ihren  Facetten und Einzigartigkeiten ist die Welt wirklich wie ein buntes Buch, das förmlich danach ruft, gelesen zu werden, weil es so viel Aufregendes und Interessantes in ihm zu entdecken gibt. Denn vor allem geht es im Leben doch darum, auch wirklich zu leben und damit kann meiner Meinung nach keinesfalls nur der routinemäßige Alltag gemeint sein, den wir Tag für Tag mehr dahinleben als ihn wirklich zu erleben. Wer möchte eines Tages schon auf sein Leben zurückblicken und merken, dass er eigentlich nie über den Tellerrand geblickt hat?

Natürlich liegt es immer im Auge des Betrachters, wo man Erfüllungen im Leben sieht, doch für mich steht fest: Die Welt ist ein gewaltiges Buch, von dem ich so viel möglich lesen möchte!

Like already mentioned in my first blogpost one of my biggest passions is travelling. I have often asked myself what could be the reason that so many people share this passion and that on the other hand there are others who do not seem to be interested in it at all.

But actually the answer is quite easy for those who are in love with travelling. For me, it is the fascination to discover new thing. In this case "new" is a very extensive word. It can stand for so many different thing, such as new cultures and ways of life, other mentalities, foreign and fascinating landscapes, ... The list could be extented endlessly. There is a quote which puts the question after the "Why?" in a nutshell:

"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." St. Augustine

It could not be summarised in a better way, I think. With all its facets and uniqueness, the world really is like a colourful book that demands to be read because there is so much exciting and interesting it it that can be discovered. The point of life is living and I do not think that living can just mean the everyday life we live every day. Life should be experienced, not just lived. Who would like to look back at his life someday and realise that he never looked beyond his own nose?

Of course, the sense of life is always in the eye of the beholder. But for me, one thing is clear: The world is an enormous book and I would like to read as much of it as possible.
